Detroit Alumni Raises $25,000 for Jewish Dental Clinic

 December 12, 2013

The Alpha Omega Detroit Alumni Chapter held two philanthropic events in 2013; both organized to support Detroit’s Jewish Dental Clinic.  This clinic is dedicated to providing the highest quality oral health care to those in need in the Jewish community of Metropolitan Detroit.

On June 10, 2013 the Dr. Arnold Zuroff and Dr. Harold Luria Memorial Golf Outing was held at Knollwood Country Club. This event, through individual donations, golf hole sponsors, golfers participating at the event, and various golf contests throughout the day, raised $20, 000.

On November 17, 2013 a Monte Carlo night was held at Detroit’s Congregation Shaarey Zedek . This was an upscale evening of casino-style gaming featuring prizes, entertainment and food.  Alpha Omegans and a large group of the Orthodox community, totaling 140 participants, not only attended but also helped to solicit and organize this evening. The goal of this event was to primarily give the Jewish Dental Clinic exposure to many members of the community who did not know of its existence, in order to hopefully create more support in the future.  This event’s first year raised $5,000.
