Planting a New Tree of Peace at Harvard University SDM

December 12, 2013

Tree of Peace at Harvard UniversityThe AO Boston Alumni and Student Chapters and US Foundation are working with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, its Harvard Dental Alumni Association and Odontological Society in a fundraising campaign to erect a New Tree of Peace statue honoring the service and commitment of Drs. Bruce Donoff and Walter C. Guralnick.

The statue recognizes the fraters’ numerous achievements and the school’s efforts restoring peace to the global community. The Tree of Peace is a majestic bronze sculpture that symbolizes the pioneering partnership of medicine, dentistry, education, and the enduring desire to achieve peace within the global community.

Dr. Donoff is the Dean of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and has received many distinctions over the years. In 2011, he was bestowed the AO Achievement Award. Dr. Guralnick is the longest active member of AO at 77 years and counting. His accomplishments are lengthy and he is still a very active member of the faculty at the school. Learn more.

The Tree of Peace has become a symbol of philanthropy for Alpha Omega. There is an inextricable link between Alpha Omega’s Global Oral Health Initiative (GOHI) advancing dental medicine through health, education, research, and access to care across the globe. These efforts, in part, help foster peaceful relationships with other schools, projects, and programs around the world.
