Workshop Highlights: Renewing Minds, Restoring Hope

The Renewing Minds, Restoring Hope workshops are bringing trauma-informed support, practical resilience tools, and renewed hope to dental professionals across Israel.

Israel Police Forensic Identification Unit

The program's second confidential support session created a two-hour sanctuary for members of the Israel Police Forensic Identification Unit.

Stepping away from the emotional burden of their work, participants focused entirely on their own well-being. By the end of the session, stress had given way to conversation, laughter, and smiles.

Every participant agreed that the facilitated group discussions led by trauma specialist Yotam Dagan provide exactly the type of support they need.

Rambam Health Care Campus Department of Endodontics

Faculty and residents from the Department of Endodontics participated in a full-day resilience workshop that explored how stress manifests physically and emotionally. The workshop introduced breathing and self-regulation strategies, and encouraged open conversations about mental well-being. These topics are often overlooked despite the tremendous pressures facing Israel's healthcare professionals.

The day concluded with an experiential archery session in the peaceful countryside of northern Israel, allowing participants to translate the principles of focus, breathing, and emotional regulation into practice.

The gratitude expressed by participants was heartfelt. As one faculty member shared:

"Simply knowing that our brothers and sisters in the United States recognize and appreciate our efforts provides tremendous support, encouragement, and a truly meaningful source of strength."

Tel Aviv University Departments of Oral Rehabilitation and Periodontology

Residents in the Oral Rehabilitation and Periodontology Departments at the Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine participated in their own resilience workshop focused on stress management and emotional well-being.

As the session progressed, participants who arrived carrying the weight of daily professional and personal pressures became increasingly engaged, relaxed, and visibly more at ease. By the end of the workshop, conversations were open, smiles had replaced tension, and participants left with practical tools they could immediately apply in both their professional and personal lives.

The impact was so evident that the department chair immediately requested that the program be expanded to include a larger number of faculty and residents.

Looking Ahead

Building on the success of these workshops, discussions are underway to significantly expand the program Plans include 8 to 10 additional workshops serving the Israel Police Forensic Identification Unit, faculty and residents at Tel Aviv University, and dental professionals at Rambam Health Care Campus.
