Message from the Chairman's Desk

Dr. Marc Rothman

Dear Friends,

As summer draws to a close, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for the many initiatives the AO US Dental Foundation and our partners are advancing together. Our collective commitment to education, healing, and philanthropy continues to inspire and make a lasting impact.

This fall, we are proud to highlight several important programs:

  • Renewing Minds, Restoring Hope – Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Laurie Gordon-Shaw and Dr. Michael Spektor (PIP), our newest program supporting the emotional well-being of the Israeli dental community will officially launch on September 28th with a webinar titled From Trauma to Healing. The featured guest speaker is Yotam Dagan a clinical psychologist, entrepreneur, and former Israeli Navy SEAL who draws on both his military experience and personal journey with trauma to help others coping with PTSD. This is a Webinar not to miss! To register for the program click here.
  • New Alliance Brochure – This week, the Alliance completed a comprehensive brochure showcasing our past and present accomplishments. It conveys the breadth of Alpha Omega’s impact while highlighting the compassion, vision, and commitment that drive our mission. More than a record of our work, the brochure both informs and inspires, reflecting our shared journey to make a meaningful difference. Click here to download a copy of the brochure.
  • The Allen Finkelstein Scholarship Fund – We are finalizing the formation of a selection committee that will begin awarding scholarships to third- and fourth-year dental students. These scholarships will recognize students who exemplify leadership and a commitment to advancing cutting-edge research, carrying forward Dr. Finkelstein’s extraordinary legacy.
  • AO Convention in December – For those planning to join us at the AO International Convention, we are pleased to share that the International Alliance of Charitable Organizations will host a cocktail reception at the Holocaust Museum in Naples. This meaningful venue underscores our values of remembrance, resilience, and community. Save Saturday, December 27th to join your AO community to learn more about how we are helping the Israeli dental community. Or, register now by clicking here .
  • Rebuilding the Dental Clinic at Kibbutz Be’eri in Memory of Heroes – We are working with the Philadelphia Chapter, which has committed to helping rebuild the dental clinic at Kibbutz Be’eri. This effort honors five heroes—a doctor, a paramedic, and three emergency responders—who lost their lives defending their community and the clinic on October 7th. Having already raised $12,000 toward a $50,000 goal, we invite chapters everywhere to join us by hosting fundraisers, sharing this cause, and standing with us to honor the fallen and rebuild hope. Click here for more information.

These programs and milestones remind us that our work extends beyond dentistry—it is about healing, educating, remembering, and building a better future. I thank you for your continued dedication and invite you to engage with these upcoming programs as we advance our shared mission.

With appreciation,

Marc Rothman

Give With a Purpose!

Celebrate and Support Fellow AO Members

The Alpha Omega US Dental Foundation continues to support meaningful initiatives that bring our communities closer in the United States and Israel. Each tribute you purchase does more than honor someone - it directly funds meaningful programs that touch lives.

How your tribute donations have made an impact:

  • Purchasing scrubs for students at Tel Aviv University's Dental School when the school was short of funds.
  • Funding students from Hebrew University School of Dentistry to visit Penn Dental Medicine, Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and the University of Michigan School of Dentistry for an invaluable exchange program.
  • Supporting the D. Walter Cohen Symposium to celebrate academic excellence and advancing dental education.
  • Extending our reach beyond dentistry to unite with other Jewish healthcare professionals and foster collaboration, education, and philanthropy by sponsoring the Alpha Omega International Dental Society as a founding member of the American Jewish Medical Association.
  • Aiding the DVI Trudi Birger Dental Clinic in Israel to purchase a compressor motor for the clinic.
  • Providing assistance to dentists who lost everything in the California fires by distributing emergency funds.

Honor someone special, commemorate a milestone, or express your gratitude by purchasing a tribute today. Together, we can continue to uplift dental students, faculty, and our global community.
