Dear Friends,
Today, there are many important causes competing for our attention. Yet the Alpha Omega U.S. Dental Foundation remains steadfast in its mission: to support Jewish dentists and dental students in the United States and Israel.
We believe our professional duty and sacred calling are rooted in the principle of tikkun olam—the moral imperative to heal and repair the world. This is not merely a value we uphold; it is a shared commitment that binds us together in times of darkness and calls us to action in moments of need. Our charge is clear. Our strength is in our shared responsibility for the Israeli community.
The atrocities of October 7, 2023, inflicted a deep wound on the Jewish people. Among the first responders were members of our own Alpha Omega family—dental professionals, educators, students, and volunteers—who served with courage in emergency rooms, forensic units, and field clinics. Many did so at great personal cost, guided by compassion and duty.
Today, Israeli families continue to live under the persistent threat of violence—from Iranian missile attacks, from Hamas, and from the unrelenting fear triggered by sirens and bomb shelters. Their children are afraid. Their communities are exhausted. And many are quietly battling the invisible wounds of trauma and grief.
We find ourselves once again at a critical juncture. The question before us is simple: how can we, as a Jewish dental organization, make a meaningful impact? Let us offer two concrete ways: |
-
Renewing Minds, Restoring Hope:
Co-chaired by Laurie Gordon-Shaw and Michael Spektor, this initiative addresses the psychological toll on Israel’s dental community. It is a collaborative effort of the International Alliance of Alpha Omega Charitable Organizations—including our U.S. Foundation, the Canadian Foundation, and the AO London Charitable Trust, and partnering with our German and French colleagues—to provide long-term support for emotional and mental health. -
Rebuilding Kibbutz Be’eri’s Dental Clinic:
With support from the AO U.S. Dental Foundation, the Philadelphia Chapter launched a campaign to rebuild the clinic at Kibbutz Be’eri. Once a place of healing, the clinic became a makeshift triage center on October 7 and was ultimately the site of the kibbutz’s final defense and tragedy. We have just begun and already have made a significant inroad toward our $300,000 goal.
|
We invite you to stand with us on this urgent mission. Israel needs us, Israel needs you. Now is the time. Let us bring light to those still surrounded by shadows. With gratitude and hope |

All Israel is responsible for each other |
The International Alliance of Alpha Omega Charitable Organizations has launched a dedicated fund to support urgently needed psychological services at The Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine at Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine.
Both institutions are struggling to meet the mental health needs of their students and faculty. As Jewish dentists, we have a profound responsibility to stand with our Israeli colleagues during this critical time.
Your support will help ensure the Israeli dental community will have the resources they need to heal, succeed academically, and thrive in their profession. |

Rebuild The Dental Clinic |

at Kibbutz Be'eri in Memory of Heroes |

|
|
On October 7th, the dental clinic at Kibbutz Be’eri became a site of extraordinary bravery, where a doctor, a paramedic, and three members of the emergency response team took refuge and mounted a heroic defense that prevented further attacks on the community. All five gave their lives.
In their memory, the Alpha Omega International Dental Society’s Philadelphia Chapter, in partnership with the Alpha Omega US Dental Foundation, is committed to honoring their sacrifice by helping to rebuild the clinic as part of a state-of-the-art multi-clinic complex that will also provide general medical and pediatric care to the community. |

Why support the US Foundation tribute program?
The income from the tribute program is essential for funding smaller, yet impactful initiatives. Without this support, we wouldn’t be able to respond to the many requests we receive from chapters and partners across the United States and Israel. Every dollar from tributes directly supports these initiatives, empowering us to make a difference where it matters most. Help make a difference today! |
