A Lifetime of Achievement - A Lasting Scholarship

Dr. Allen Finkelstein has built a distinguished career marked by leadership, service, generosity, vision, a deep commitment to advancing oral health and Alpha Omega. His work has spanned private practice, public health, military service, academia, and healthcare.

On April 24, 2026, Dr. Finkelstein received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry Alumni Reunion - his alma mater. Kol Hakavod! A fitting tribute to the enduring impact of a remarkable career.

That legacy now lives on in the next generation.  Each year schools, who participate in the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors program, are invited to nominate one student to receive a $5,000 scholarship award to be applied toward tuition, academic expenses, or research.  

 

2026 Dr. Allen Finkelstein Scholarship Recipients

Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

  • Dr. Shalom Benzaquen: Pursuing dual specialty training in prosthodontics and periodontics, he was instrumental in bringing the Alpha Omega–Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program to Eastman.

Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry

  • Charles Stump: A DMD candidate in the Class of 2027, demonstrating strong leadership as both Class President and Vice President, with active involvement in community outreach, cosmetic dentistry, and dental entrepreneurship.

New York University College of Dentistry

  • Rachel Zinshteyn: A DDS candidate in the call of 2027, she has demonstrated initiative and forward-thinking leadership through her work on sustainability in dental education.

University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine

  • Dean Emanuel: A DMD candidate in the Class of 2027 and Dean's Scholarship recipient, recognized for academic achievement and leadership.

Touro College of Dental Medicine

  • Daniel Abrkhaimov: A DDS candidate in the Class of 2027, known for his strong record of leadership, academic achievement, professionalism, and commitment to community service.

Hebrew University–Hadassah School of Dental Medicine

  • Dr. Maria Nassar: Serving as Chief Resident for nearly five years, she was selected for a highly competitive one-year Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship at Willis Knighton Health under the mentorship of Dr. G.E. Ghali in Shreveport, Louisiana, reflecting her clinical excellence and deep commitment to advancing the field.

The Maurice and Gabriela Goldschleger School of Dental Medicine at Tel Aviv University 

  • Dr. Daniel Dan: Having completed his studies in 2024 with a strong focus on periodontology, he is now preparing to begin a Periodontics residency at the University of Pennsylvania this summer.

Join the Harvard School of Dental Medicine community for a Celebration of Life honoring Bruce Donoff, DMD ’67, MD ’73.

Dr. Donoff served as Dean of Harvard School of Dental Medicine from 1991 to 2019 and was a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon, educator, and mentor. His leadership shaped generations of dental professionals and left a lasting impact on the school, the profession, and the many communities he served.

A proud and devoted member of Alpha Omega, Dr. Donoff was instrumental in advancing many of the organization’s most meaningful initiatives.  He played a key role in supporting AO’s Holocaust Survivor Program and was deeply involved in the installation of the Tree of Peace at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine—a lasting symbol of unity, remembrance, and dentistry’s power to build bridges across cultures and communities.

His leadership and values reflected the very heart of Alpha Omega’s mission.

Colleagues, alumni, students, and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his remarkable life.

Program will begin at 4:00 PM, followed by a reception.

Dr. Bernie Kahn, AO US Dental Foundation Board Member and incoming President of the Alpha Omega International Dental Society, visited Colorado on April 26, 2026, for the Denver Spring Alpha Omega Alumni–Student Chapter Brunch.

This special gathering was held in collaboration with the American College of Dentists (ACD), the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association (SPEA), the International College of Dentists (ICD), and the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).

The program featured keynote speaker Dr. Brett Kessler, Immediate Past President of the American Dental Association, who delivered an inspiring presentation on “Finding Your ‘Why’ to Build a Happy, Successful, and Fulfilling Dental Career.” Leaders from each participating organization also shared updates, highlighting ongoing initiatives and opportunities for engagement.

The event brought together 20 dentists and 30 students from the University of Colorado Alpha Omega Chapter and SPEA, creating a meaningful forum for connection, mentorship, and professional growth.

 

Mazal Tov Moments

Mazal Tov to Dr. Fred Barnett on receiving the IB Bender Lifetime Educator Award from The American Association of Endodontists. Dr Barnett has been the Chair and Program Director of the IB Bender Division of Endodontics at Albert Einstein Medical Center for the last 21 years. 

Mazal Tov to Dr. Musa Bajali z"l, for being honored on February 26, 2026 by the Student National Dental Association at the University of Pennsylvania. The SNDA recognized Dr. Bajali for his extraordinary dedication to the students of Penn Dental Medicine, noting that through his teaching and compassion, he has left an enduring legacy that will long be remembered.
